Lucan United continue impressive run to season
LUCAN UNITED’S cracking season continued last Saturday in the SDFL Complex, when they came from a goal down to see off Rush Athletic 2-1 in this LSL Tom Carroll Cup clash reports John Mooney.
Wholesale changes from the management meant for a disjointed look to this Lucan team that has been setting the league on fire this season, then again, with such a large squad everyone has to be catered for and there is no doubt they are managing it the right way.
No disrespect to Rush, but Lucan probably had one eye on next Saturday’s LFA Junior Cup last 16 date with SVS such was the dramatic look to their starting line-up, and they paid the price inside two minutes when the visitors went in front.
Reece Price gathered the ball wide on the right hand side and slipped into Dan Thorne, who coolly placed it beyond Jamie Behan in the United goal.
It certainly rocked the home side and no matter how hard they tried nothing seemed to be working for them.
Rush were really up for it and had slightly more possession, but they tried and just couldn’t put the finishing touches to anything else they created, and in the second period they were made to pay.

Lucan brought on the big guns and turned the tide in their favour, and when Leo Myers played in Danny Mhomdiwa to level the tie on 50 minutes it was always going to end one way.
The only surprise was that it took until the 70th minute to finish off a gallant visiting outfit, that did not have the same sort of bench the home side boasted.
Flying winger Brandon O’Halloran, who’s young brother Ewan played up front and did a good job, set up the winner when he fired over a low cross that a defender missed and Myers was on hand to slot home.
So far this season Lucan have only lost one game, their FAI Junior clash with holders Pike Rovers, but they are really tuned in, have bought into the management’s philosophy and are destined to win something.
