M&S employee charged with 131 counts of stealing cash at Liffey Valley outlet

A M&S employee who allegedly stole nearly €6,000 from her work in Liffey Valley had her case remanded for disclosure by Blanchardstown District Court.
Angela Martin allegedly stole small amounts between €20 and €50 at a time.
Martin, aged 61, with an address at Greenfort Lawns, Clondalkin, is charged with 131 counts of theft of cash totalling €5832 on dates in July and August 2016 from Marks and Spencer, Liffey Valley, Clondalkin.
Judge David McHugh had previously accepted jurisdiction. The court had heard it will be alleged that Martin was employed in the Café in Marks and Spencer in Liffey Valley and that between July and August 2016, she removed sums of cash from the till totalling €5,832.
Sergeant Geraldine McManigan told Judge McHugh that they were seeking further time to supply disclosure.
She said there was a total of 131 charges but the DPP had decided to prosecute on one “omnibus” charge.
Martin’s solicitor, Simon Fleming, consented to the remand. Judge McHugh remanded Martin on continuing bail to a date in November for a plea or a date for hearing.
