Making a name in music – Singer songwriter Lauren looks to the future

At the young age of seventeen, Firhouse Community College student, Lauren Doyle from Kiltipper, is making a name for herself in the music world.
As a solo musician and songwriter, Lauren has been keeping herself busy over the past year, gigging at numerous locations around Dublin.

“Lauren has always been musical from day one,” her mother, Marian Doyle, said. She started playing guitar at the age of nine and has really made a name for herself in the past year, regularly busking around Dublin, specifically on Grafton Street.
From a young age, Lauren was interested in anything and everything musical. From singing to her teachers in school, to attending musicals, it was clear that music was her calling.
Although she has never taken formal singing lessons, she did take guitar lessons for about two years with guitar teacher Eugene Quinn in Tallaght. Currently, Lauren uses resources like YouTube to teach herself any vocals or songs on guitar that she wants to learn.
She works mostly as a solo artist, writing original soft ballads, but has also recently collaborated with other up-and-coming musicians. Notably, Lauren is collaborating with 13-year-old Mia Black on an upcoming recording.
She has also attended radio interviews with producers at Dublin music production studio and record label, Beardfire Music. She has been recording songs there which are being mixed by musician and music producer, David Virgin, who has worked with major artists such as Nick Cave, INXS and Mary Black.
Lauren spends most of her time during the week doing her school work, but busks on the weekends, often performing some of the ten original songs that she has written.
Marian said: “She [Lauren] never gets nervous singing or busking. She could sing in front of a million people without any nerves. Singing is her comfort zone, so singing in front of crowds never fazes her.”
She looks up to musicians like Liam Gallagher and The Beatles, and, just like any budding music artist, wants the opportunity to showcase her talents.

Soon, Lauren will be able to rise to the occasion and put herself out there further as she is gearing up to represent Firhouse Community College at the National Concert Hall this March.
Lauren will be performing with her friend, Emma Rafferty, along with about 20 other groups that were all chosen by high-profile musicians. Lauren and Emma will be performing the Billie Eilish song, ‘I Love You’, at the event.
