Man (50s) arrested following €70k drug seizure

A MAN arrested following a drug seizure in Ballyfermot worth an estimated €70,000 has appeared before the courts.

As part of ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of controlled drugs and related crime in the West Dublin area, gardai from the Clondalkin and Ballyfermot Drugs Unit conducted an intelligence-led operation on Friday, March 15.

According to a Garda statement issued: “During the operation, a residential property in Ballyfermot was searched.

“Quantities of cannabis resin, methamphetamine, and cocaine were seized, along with a sum of cash.

“The seized drugs have an estimated value in excess of €70,000, pending analysis.

“A male, aged in his 50s, was arrested and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region.”

In a follow-up statement, gardai confirmed that the man (50s) arrested following the seizure was due to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court on Sunday afternoon, March 17.
