Man armed with knife threatens staff and makes off with sum of cash

A SECOND armed robbery took place in Tallaght last week when a man armed with a knife and wearing a balaclava robbed a pharmacy in Tallaght on Tuesday, January 2.

The robbery happened in Meaghers Pharmacy in Glenview Park, Tallaght at approximately 6pm.

According to gardai, the man entered the pharmacy and threatened staff with the knife before making off with a sum of cash towards the Tallaght Bypass.

The man is described as being 6’3”, of stocky build and was wearing a dark navy balaclava, black gloves, a black/grey jacket, blue jeans and white runners.

A garda spokesperson said: “No injuries were reported, no arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.”

This area has been targeted many times in the past with the local Post Office next door to Meaghers Pharmacy hit on a number of occasions.

A number of other units in this shopping area have also been targeted by thieves in recent years.

This was the second armed incident in the space of two days as the Speaker Conolly in Firhouse was held up by an armed raider on New Year’s Day. The person arrested was before the CCJ and was charged in connection to the incident.
