Man arrested in Lucan after threatening woman with knife

A man has been arrested this afternoon in Lucan after he threatened the driver of a car with a knife.

The terrifying incident unfolded at approximately 1pm in the Hillcrest area.

According to Gardai, the man, aged in his 30, approached the vehicle and threatened the woman driver before taking the keys out of the ignition.

The woman was not injured and the man was arrested a short time later.

In a statement to Echo.ie this afternoon a spokesperson said: “A male in his 30s approached a woman in a car, threatened her with a knife and took the keys to her car. She was not injured.

“The male left the scene with the keys and was arrested a short distance away and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of The Criminal Act 1984 at Ronanstown Garda Station.”
