
Man charged with assaulting a garda may face Circuit Court trial
A MAN accused of assaulting a garda four times could face a Circuit Court trial if he pleads not guilty.
Raymond McGarry appeared on bail before Judge David McHugh in Blanchardstown District Court.
Presenting Sergeant Maria Callaghan told Judge McHugh that the DPP had directed summary disposal only on a plea of guilty.
McGarry, aged 35, with an address at Alpine Heights, Clondalkin, is charged with three counts of assaulting Garda Matthew Kelly at the above address on February 8, 2018.
He is also charged with assaulting Garda Kelly causing him harm, and with resisting arrest, both at the above address, also on February 8 last.
McGarry is also charged with assaulting another male at his address at Alpine Heights, also on February 8 last.
McGarry’s counsel, Ciaran McLoughlin Bl, told Judge McHugh that he had received disclosure in the case and he asked for a remand to go through it with his client.
Judge McHugh remanded McGarry on continuing bail for a month for a plea or a date for hearing.
