Man fined €150 for walking down N4 at 1am in the morning

A MAN who was walking down the N4 at 1am in the morning has been fined €150 by Blanchardstown District Court.

Fining Gary Flood, Judge David McHugh said: “He seems to have been on a bit of an outing”.

Garda Padraic Minnock told the court that at 10pm on February 14 last, the gardai were called to Milford Manor Green in Clondalkin where they found Flood on the footpath outside a house.

He said Flood had been acting aggressively and was abusive.

Garda Minnock added that at 1am on February 15 last, the gardai responded to a call that a man was wallking along the N4 inbound lane at Lucan.

Garda Minnock said he gave Flood a number of directions to leave the area and then finally directed him under the Public Order Act to move from the area. He said Flood failed to comply with his direction and was arrested.

Gary Flood, aged 39, with an address at Milford Manor Green, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty to engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at Milford Manor Green on February 14, 2019.

He also pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a garda’s directions at the N4 inbound at Lucan on February 15, 2019.

Garda Minnock said Flood had one previous conviction for breaching the peace from District Court 46 on June 11, 2009.

Flood’s solicitor, Terry Hanahoe, said his client is a father of two children and receives €391 a week in social welfare.

He said Flood had been out on the night in question and came to the attention of the gardai twice within a couple of hours.

Judge McHugh said: “He seems to have been on a bit of an outing”.

He fined Flood €150 for the failing to comply charge and took the breach of the peace into consideration.
