
Man recovering after knife attack at canal

A MAN injured after suffering a serious knife attack on a canal, is believed to be recovering from his neck injury in Tallaght Hospital, reports Maurice Garvey.
On Tuesday night at approximately 8.45pm, a number of gardai responded to reports of an altercation on the Ninth Lock in Clondalkin, close to the Waterside pub.

The location is a popular hangout for drinkers.
The Echo understands the victim is an Eastern European male in his 30s.
Four men were arrested by gardai at the scene.
A garda source said the investigation discovered the men had been drinking together at the canal, and a fight broke out, leading to the victim receiving a serious injury to his neck.
One of the four men was released, whilst three remained in custody overnight at Clondalkin Garda Station.
A DPP file is being prepared on the three men, two of which are Irish nationals.
