Man used stolen debit card to carry out a number of ‘tap’ transactions in shops
A MAN who used a stolen debit card to carry out a number of "tap" transactions in various shops in Tallaght totalling over €260 received the Probation Act in Tallaght Court when he paid €300 compensation to the injured party.
Florian Muntean, aged 42, with an address at Swan Hall, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to stealing a total of €268.67 in various transactions from Eurogiant, Topaz and Dealz, at Belgard Square and The Square, Tallaght, on November 27, 2016.

Sergeant Eithne Madden told the court that on 26 November 2016, the injured party had been out in Dublin City and woke up the next morning to find that his iPhone and Bank of Ireland debit card was missing.
Sgt Madden added that on November 27, 2016, Florian Muntean went into a number of shops in Tallaght and used the card to make a number of "tap" transactions totalling €268.67.
She said the cards owner had been notified by the bank about the transactions.
Sgt Madden said a Garda later observed CCTV from Topaz, Eurogiant and Dealz and observed Muntean carrying out the transactions using the Bank of Ireland debit card.
Sgt Madden said Muntean had one previous conviction for drunken driving from September 26, 2018.
She added that he had come to Garda attention since the incident.
Muntean’s Counsel, Stephen Montgomery Bl, said his client was putting his hands up.
He said Muntean had €300 compensation in court.
Judge Murphy ordered that the compensation be paid to the injured party and applied the Probation Act.
