Man waving hammer allegedly robbed €500
A MAN waving a hammer who allegedly robbed a Lucan Service Station of over €500 could face trial in the Circuit Court, Blanchardstown District Court has heard.
Judge David McHugh refused jurisdiction in Michael Doherty’s case.
Doherty, aged 41, with an address at Kilclare Crescent, Tallaght, is charged with robbing €520 in cash from a staff member at Maxol Filling Station, Newcastle Road, Lucan, on March 31, 2017.
Sergeant Maria Callaghan told Judge McHugh that the DPP had directed summary disposal in the case.
She said it will be alleged that at 9.10pm on March 31, 2017, Doherty entered the Maxol station wearing a balaclava and waving a hammer.
She said it will be alleged that Doherty threatened the staff member with a hammer and he made off with €520 in cash. Sgt Callagan said the staff were not physically assaulted.
Judge McHugh asked if the staff were psychologically damaged as a result of the incident.
Sgt Callaghan said she had no record of this.
Judge McHugh refused jurisdiction.
He remanded Doherty on continuing bail for a month for the DPP’s response.
