Masked men, armed with blunt weapon, raid bookies
By Mary Dennehy
GARDAÍ are trawling through CCTV to find two masked men responsible for a hit on Boyle’s Sports behind the Cuckoo’s Nest two weeks ago.
On Tuesday, December 2, at around 6.50pm, two males, with faces covered and armed with a blunt weapon, entered the Greenhills Road bookies and demanded cash.
However, there wasn’t much to take from behind the counter, so the two raiders turned to a customer in the shop and demanded that he empty his pockets.
A Garda source told The Echo: “The two males entered the shop at around 6.50pm and one of them was armed with a bat or a hammer – it was hard to get an accurate picture from the CCTV. There was no firearm involved.”
The source added: “They did threaten a customer, who wasn’t injured, and made him hand over what money he had in his pockets.
“They left the shop on foot with a small amount of cash and we are currently examining CCTV from the area.
“Investigating officers have gathered statements from a number of witnesses and anybody else with information, and if anyone spotted anything suspicious that evening is encouraged to contact Tallaght Garda Station.”
Call Tallaght Garda Station on 6666000.
