Meagher’s Pharmacy success with Best Managed Companies Award

MEAGHER’S Pharmacy is celebrating its selection as one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies by Deloitte for the ninth consecutive year.

The awards programme honours outstanding business performance by companies across Ireland.

Meagher’s, which has nine outlets in Dublin including Glenview and Castletymon Park in Tallaght, also retain its Platinum Status, the highest award level, for a third year.

The pharmacy group was this year classified as a ‘re-qualifier’ for the award – companies whose success has propelled them beyond the application requirements for the gold and platinum award level.

Oonagh O’Hagan, Managing Director of Meagher’s Pharmacy, picked up the award on behalf of the group at a ceremony at the Convention Centre in Dublin on Thursday, September 14.

The Deloitte Best Managed Companies programme is the only awards scheme on the island of Ireland that evaluates overall business performance as well as a company’s management team and strategy. Judges also look at a company’s environmental, social and governance standards, and its strategic planning and talent strategy.

Companies that apply for the award must be owned, managed or controlled on the island of Ireland and have a turnover in excess of €20m. They must also be established for at least five years and be able to demonstrate superior performance over the past three years in relation to their peers.

Oonagh O’Hagan, Managing Director of Meagher’s Pharmacy, said the group were delighted to be named among Ireland’s Best Managed Companies for a ninth year in a row.

“While we were thrilled with our company’s overall performance in 2023, we take particular pride in the fact that BMC judges looked beyond our financial performance and made their decisions based on the standards we set in our environmental, social and governance policies, as well as our strategies around planning, recruitment and retention.

“A strong and supportive culture is the centrepiece of our success at Meagher’s Pharmacy and we look forward to continuing that into 2024.”
