Mission accomplished by Tower U14 hurlers
IT WAS mission accomplished by Round Tower U14 hurlers on Saturday when they claimed the Division Two County title after seeing off Trinity Gaels 4-10 1-8 in Drumnigh.
Having lost to Gaels by eight points in September, the Clondalkin side had a point to prove and they led in this contest from start to finish.
Two goals ahead at half time, Gaels came storming back in the second half and scored four points in a row, but the dismissal of a player cost them dearly.
Dan Ward put in a strong performance for Tower’s with a goal while Finn Dwane and Harry Homan also found the net while Ward, Larry Hickey, Fionn Higgins and Jack Ledwidge split the posts with points.
Tower’s had many heroes on the day including Aaron O’Rionn, Dan Ward, Larry Hickey and Man of the Match Jack Slattery who made 10 saves in all including a second half plenty.
