Motorcyclist dies following fatal road traffic collision in Tallaght

A MOTORCYCLIST in his early 20s has died following a fatal road traffic collision on Whitestown Way in Tallaght in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision which occurred just after 2.45am between a motorcyclist and pedestrian at the roundabout on Whitestown Way.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene while the pedestrian was rushed to Tallaght University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A garda statement issued this morning said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision in Tallaght, Dublin 24 in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 24th September 2023.

“The collision, involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian, occurred shortly before 2:45am at a roundabout on Whitestown Way.

“The motorcyclist, a male in his early 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The pedestrian, a male also in his 20s, was taken by Ambulance to Tallaght Hospital. His injures are not life threatening.

“The road is presently closed for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators”.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information or who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam), and who were travelling in the vicinity of Whitestown Way at the time, is asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
