Motorist appeals for dashcam footage after €4k stolen from car

A MOTORIST is appealing for anyone with dashcam footage, to come forward with information in relation to a theft of over €4,000 in cash from a car in Palmerstown.

On Thursday morning, June 7, at Ulster Bank in Palmerstown Village, a woman withdrew €4,200 to pay for new windows being installed at her home.

Afterwards, she drove to nearby Palmerstown Avenue to pick up a family member, but when she returned to the car, she discovered a smashed window, with no sign of the money.

Appealing on Palmerstown Neighbourhood Watch, the motorist acknowledges she was “foolish to have left the money in the car” but wanted to warn other residents of the robbery.

“I’m full sure they followed me from the bank, although I’m glad that they didn’t come into the house after me for it.”

The resident said video footage would assist with the garda investigation.

Palmerstown Neighbourhood Watch said a suspect was driving a grey/black VW Golf.

They appealed for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage in the vicinity of Ulster Bank in the village and Palmerstown Avenue lower to contact gardai.

A garda spokesman said: “Gardai in Ballyfermot are investigating a theft of a sum of money from a car in the Palmerstown Avenue area of Dublin 20 on Thursday, June 7, between 10.50am and 1pm. Upon arrival, investigating gardai saw a window smashed and money taken.

“Investigations are ongoing, no arrests have been made.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Ballyfermot Garda Station at 6667200.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to try and raise some of the lost money back, which has so far managed to raise €710.
