Mysterious investor helps Quality Butchers reopen in Ballyfermot

A BALLYFERMOT butchers was brought back from the brink after a silent backer stepped in the prevent the business folding for good.

Ballyfermot Craft Butchers operated beside Tescos on Ballyfermot Road for 15 years but was forced to close on January 30, after experiencing economic difficulties in recent years.

Staff were made redundant with immediate effect, including some who worked in the premises for over 10 years.

However, in miraculous fashion, the butchers opened again just five days later, thanks to a mysterious silent backer.

Re-opened as Ballyfermot Quality Butchers on February 4, the premises employs three butchers and specializes in quality meats.

Trade has been very positive inthe first week of the store’s reopening, according to butcher Liam Connolly.

Liam said: “Customers have been very supportive and telling us they are delighted to see us back. The Saturday we closed was the longest day of my life.

“I signed on the labour on Monday morning and went to Downeys for two pints to decide what to do, when I got a phone call to say a new backer was taking on the lease. We’ve gone back to FX Buckleys for suppliers.They are well known for quality, that’s what we know and that’s in our name.”

A local source said: “All credit goes to the lads who put it together. They carried out an intensive cleaning of the premises, started using different suppliers, improving the quality of meat. It’s service with a smile.

“It was always a very busy butchers but the trade took a hit over the last five years in challenging times.”

Ballyfermot Quality Butchers are open Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm, and ready to ‘meat’ your requirements.
