New Meadows Café on Peamount campus open to public

THE new Meadows Café in the Health & Wellness Centre on the campus of Peamount Healthcare officially opened before Christmas.

The opening of the café follows a recent biodiversity project completed in June 2023 through which the campus now have an additional 4,500 native trees, 75 heritage apple and nut trees in three new orchards and the creation of two hectares of hay meadow surrounding the Health & Wellness Centre.

The meadows and orchards provide beautiful walking areas particularly in the summer months.

The new Meadows Café project was completed by Fitzsimons Consulting Engineers, Precision Catering, McDermott Building Services (McDBS Ltd) and will be run by Aramark.

Local businesses and the local community joined service users, residents and visitors in the café at the opening on Tuesday.

The café was officially opened by Emer Higgins, TD.

Tanya King, CEO, Peamount Healthcare said: “At Peamount Healthcare we pride ourselves on providing a specialist set of high-quality healthcare and social care services for our service users.

“This project provides the local community with the opportunity to come and enjoy the beautiful Peamount grounds.

“In addition, the opportunity to relax and engage with others in the café will also be available to residents, staff, and visitors and supports our vision to help people to live more independently.”

The Meadows at Peamount, which is located on the Newcastle Road, opens Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 10.30am to 4.30pm.

The cafe serves great coffee and savoury and sweet food options.
