There is also a sand play area with natural play features in the playground, which welcomed its first visitors on Thursday.
In a comment to The Echo, South Dublin County Council said: “As with all playspaces a lot of effort has been put into ensuring the play area is accessible to children with disabilities.
“We have already had some fantastic feedback from the first users on Thursday afternoon and are really looking forward to seeing it full of children this coming weekend. “
Since 2015, the council has installed new playspaces in Kingswood, Kilnamanagh, Brookview, Aylesbury, Avonbeg, Killinarden and Bancroft Park.

Two new playgrounds have also being installed in Tymon Park and the playground in Sean Walsh Park revamped.
The works have been part of South Dublin County Council’s playspace programme, a five-year programme aimed at “addressing the deficiency of play opportunities in the immediate environment of children’s homes”.

According to the council: “Play is extremely important for the physical and mental health of children growing up in urban areas so having facilities close to children’s homes increases their opportunities for play, social interaction and physical activity and therefore improves their health.
“The programme has been supported by all of the elected representatives and delivered with the input and support of communities right across the county and is proving very successful.”
