NINETEEN new garda recruits have been assigned to a number of local stations, the bulk of whom will take up posts at Lucan Garda Station.
The recent graduates of the Garda College in Templemore have been assigned to stations, including Tallaght, Crumlin, Lucan, Clondalkin and Sundrive Road.

Lucan Garda Station is set to get seven new garda recruits, Crumlin and Sundrive Road will get three each, and four new garda recruits have been assigned to Clondalkin Garda Station, while two new recruits will be going to Tallaght Garda Station.
The new garda recruits graduated from Templemore last Friday, with An Garda Síochana stating that the new gardai will see the number of Garda members increase to 14,467 – the largest number of sworn Garda members in ten years.
This follows on from the assignment of a tranche of new garda graduates to local stations last December, which saw eight new garda graduates being assigned to Tallaght Garda Station, while a smaller number of gardai were assigned to stations in Clondalkin, Ronanstown, Sundrive Road and Ballyfermot.

In Budget 2020, which was released by the government last year, it was announced that the garda budget would be increased by €81m and an additional 700 new recruits will join An Garda Síochana this year.
