New roundabouts design works ‘severely hampered’ by weather
By Aideen O'Flaherty
TWO roundabouts in the county, one in Orwell in Templeogue and another in Ballymount in Tallaght, are due to have works carried out by South Dublin County Council.
Planting works at the roundabout in Orwell were “severely hampered” by the recent inclement weather, with the council adding that completion of the roundabout is “a priority”.

The council stated that resuming the planting of the final section of ground cover with ivy plants and daffodil bulbs is being treated as “a matter of urgency” and will be carried out when both the necessary weather and ground conditions on site are suitable.
The roundabout in Ballymount, which is situated at the junction of Calmount Road with Ballymount Road Upper and Ballymount Avenue, is currently the subject of a new landscape scheme which is being implemented at present.
Works on the roundabout are being carried out at weekend periods due to traffic management requirements at the busy location.
A sponsorship agreement in respect of the Ballymount roundabout is in the process of being finalised with a local business interest.
