OVER €10,000 has been raised to help assist the family of a recently married woman, who was hit by a car in Clondalkin.

Brazilian national Thames Tavares (30) continues to fight for her life after being hit by a car while cycling on Oak Road in Clondalkin, on Friday.

She was immediately rushed to Tallaght Hospital with serious injuries. Her condition is described as critical.

A friend Lwa Barbosa, who set up the GoFundMe page, said Thames suffered multiple fractures, had both legs and arm fractured, pelvis and fractured vertebra and several injured organs causing internal hemorrhage.

The driver of the car, a 31-year-old woman, who was uninjured, remained at the scene until emergency services arrived.

Ms Tavares married Dubliner Dean Pepper in April and was planning on celebrating his birthday on the day of the accident, according to Barbosa.

Barbosa said part of the money will be used to bring Thames’s mother, who lives in the Amazon, to Ireland, along with paying her medical bills.

On Sunday, gardai renewed an appeal for witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of a “serious road traffic collision that occurred on Friday, June 1, at approximately 3.30pm, on Oak Road, Clondalkin.”

Gardai are particularly appealing to anyone who may have dashcam equipment to assist them in their investigation, to contact Clondalkin Garda Station at 6667600, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
