Nina Buddy Bears awarded to children who were kind to others
By Cody Hutchison
THERE was great excitement in St Kilian’s Junior School in Kingswood when the Nina Buddy Bear paid a visit and brought kindness bears to some very well-deserving children.
The event marked the end of a school year where positive mental health was once again at the top of the curriculum, with the whole school congregating in the hall and singing their 'Happy' song for Buddy Bear’s arrival.
Members of NINA for LIFE, a community-based mental health awareness group, Jean Haas, Jenny McGrath and Joan O’Sullivan all helped organise the event along with Deputy Principal, Ms Coll.
A number of awards were also presented to children who were observed helping other children and being kind on numerous occasions during the school year.
One winner from each class was called out and they received their own personal Buddy Bear, certificate and a huge cheer from the audience.
Casie Kennedy from Second Class was chosen as the overall school winner.
