Nine-apartments planned to be built above popular pub

A PLANNING application for a nine-apartment development above Crough’s Pub in Tallaght has been lodged with South Dublin County Council.
Located on Cookstown Road in Tallaght, an application has been lodged by Palmgrey Limited for the provision of two additional floors to provide nine apartments over the existing Croughs building.

The proposed development is not connected to Croughs, with management at the local pub stressing to The Echo, that they are operating as normal – now and into the future, even if planning permission is granted.
Since the planning was lodged, concerns have been raised locally about the future of the pub.
However, management have moved to assure customers that Croughs is not closing, and that it’s business as usual.
The nine apartments will consist of six one-bed units and three, two-bed units, resulting in a five storey building over basement.
As part of the plans, the applicant is seeking to increase the floor area of existing staff accommodation and plant room on the second floor by 218sqm.

The proposed plans also provide for new lift and lobby area to the rear, which will service all floors.
A new pedestrian entrance to the eastern boundary and provision of 11 bicycle parking spaces and bin store.
According to South Dublin County Council, it received the planning application from Palmgrey Limited on December 17, 2019.
Members of the public have five weeks after the council receives the application to make a submission, with a site notice currently on display at the premises.
The council is due to make its decision by February 19.
