One arrest as drugs worth €160k seized in Tallaght

DRUGS worth an estimated €160,000 were seized during a Garda search operation at a residential property in Tallaght yesterday.

As part of Operation Tara, gardai attached to the Tallaght District Drug Unit carried out the search on Wednesday, July 24.

According to a Garda statement issued: “During the course of the search, suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of €131,000, suspected cocaine with a value of €28,000 and suspected MDMA valued €1,000 was seized.

“Cash to the value of €2,715 was also seized.

“The suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) to undergo analysis.”

Gardai confirmed that one man, aged in his 20s, was arrested this morning, Thursday, July 25, in relation to this investigation.

He is currently detained at a Garda Station in Dublin under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Investigations are ongoing, gardai said.
