The Audi collided with a few cars, then mounted a kerb onto a landscaped verge, knocking down a trolley shelter, before landing on three parked cars and hitting a signpost.

A woman pedestrian was also injured during the terrifying incident.

Dublin Fire Brigade said firefighters and paramedics from Tallaght and Dolphin’s Barn responded to the incident, and that the woman pedestrian was taken to hospital with “non-life threatening injuries.”

Shocked onlookers rushed to the scene as it unfolded.

One witness, who was parked close to the incident, said people helped a woman driver out of the car.

“She was in a very distressed state, but didn’t appear to have suffered serious physical injuries,” he said.

Gardai cordoned off the scene.
