Open call for local babies to take part in exciting new theatre adventure

An exciting new theatre adventure designed specifically for babies will take place at the Civic Theatre this month.

Thanks to a grant from the four Dublin Local Authorities combined and the Arts Council, a brand new show for babies will be created in, and tour to, all four of the local authority areas.

The show will be directed by Anna Newell who makes shows especially for the tiniest of audience members – with her youngest audience participant ever being just four days old!

Along with award-winning composer, David Goodall, Anna has made shows for babies that have been seen off-Broadway and in South Africa and she even made the world’s first BabyDay, a gigantic celebration of the babies of Belfast that involved over 16,000 people!

The new show is called ‘I AM BABA’ and, like all her work for babies, will be a magical journey of singing and multisensory experiences that responds to each individual baby

Anna is now looking for some tiny experts to help in this first week of development at the Civic!

She needs babies aged 0-12 months (each of whom can bring one adult guest) to come along to an informal session at the Civic at 11am on either Thursday 18th or Friday 19th – there’s no charge to be involved but capacity is very limited so booking is essential!

If you’d like your baby to be involved in this exciting new theatre adventure designed especially for them, please email HERE.

‘I AM BABA’ is commissioned under Exploring and Thinking: A Collaborative Framework for Early Childhood Arts in the Dublin region.

Exploring and Thinking is an initiative generated in partnership by Fingal County Council, Dublin City Council, South Dublin County Council and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

It is funded under the Arts Council’s Invitation to Collaboration.
