Open Mic Nights great success for drama group
“ALL those in attendance had great craic at our pre-St Patrick’s Day open mic night,” beams Lucan Drama PRO Officer David Doyle.
Lucan Drama recently held another of its Open Mic Nights upstairs at Courtney’s of Lucan Village, where poetry, drama, storytelling and singers provided a “great” free night’s entertainment over almost three hours.
“From the mating habits of penguins to losing the TV remote control and all points in between,” laughs David.
Lucan Drama would like to again thank all the staff in Courtney’s of Lucan who always go over and above in their efforts to provide us with a great performance space and a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
This is their first big event of 2026, having had a productive 2025 including a successful four-night run of autumn one-act plays in October.
They rounded out the year with the All-Ireland One-Act Drama circuit, where James Goodman directed Nancy Harris’s psychological thriller ‘Little Dolls’, starring Erin Lynch and Connor Hillman.
This production was runner-up in the 2025 Enniskillen Drama Festival and performed in Enniskillen, Gorey, Castleblaney, Ballymahon, and Skerries between October and November 2025.
Next up for Lucan Drama is their upcoming production of The Beauty Queen of Leenane in April. This will be their first production of 2026 and will run from April 13 to 16.
This dark comedy, written by Martin McDonagh, is a multi-award-winning drama, and Lucan Drama are “thrilled” to bring this play to the people of Lucan.
The group will also be presenting their annual evening of one-act plays, which will run from May 25 to 28.
Lucan Drama is also “very proud” to announce that they will be performing 3 World Premieres across this run; all 3 pieces have been written by members of the group.
Tickets will be on sale for their production of ‘The Beauty Queen of Leenane’ soon, so be sure to keep an eye on their socials @Lucan Drama or on www.linktr.ee/lucandrama.
