Over 120 attend Employment and Back to Education event

OVER 120 people attended an Employment and Back-to-Education Fair in Tallaght Library last month, which was organised by the South Dublin Migrant Integration Forum (SDMIF).

The well-attended event was held with the aim of highlighting opportunities that are available locally to the public, migrants and ethnic minorities.

“This event was organised with a lot of passion, dedication, determination and selfless services to humanity without any financial support,” said the chairperson of the SDMIF, Yemi Ojo.

“All money spent was out of pocket.

“It was worth it because over 120 target groups benefited from the well-needed event.

“In fact, both the stakeholders and the target group benefited from attending the event based on feedback from the evaluation form, verbally and emails.”

Organisations that were involved on the day included Túsla, An Cosán, Citywise, Foróige, An Garda Síochána, the Local Enterprise Office and Crosscare.

“My take, as the chair of the SDMIF, is a sigh of relief, fulfilment and a sense of accomplishment,” added Ms Ojo.

“This is the first time the SDMIF has organised such a big event without any financial support, meaning nothing is impossible to achieve if you put your mind, body, soul and passion to it.

“We are all very pleased with the positive outcome.

“Everyone is looking forward to next year.”

Ms Ojo also wanted to thank her SDMIF colleagues Foluke Oladosu, Logan Raju, and Peter Oghinato, Deputy Mayor Yvonne Collins for launching the event, and Tallaght Library for hosting it.
