THERE were over 20 calls to Dublin Fire Brigade Control from two Lucan estates over the last seven weeks, a local councillor has revealed.
Councillor Liona O’Toole told The Echo that she received a report from Dublin Fire Brigade stating that from June 1 to July 23 Dublin Fire Brigade Control received 10 calls from Castle Riada Estate and 12 calls from Moyglass Estate.

She told The Echo: “The problems with fires in the hedges and embankments are ongoing. Council management have also conducted their own study of the area.
"Since April the area has been further damaged by fires and I have discussed the issue directly with the Assistant Chief Fire Officer seeking further advice.”
Cllr O’Toole has been liasing with the council to get them to cut back the hedges and embankement.
She said: “My efforts have resulted in the council cleansing the area, scraping back as much of the mound as possible, removing the vegetation/briars.
“They will continue these works until the area is secured. Further plans are being considered.”
She has asked any local residents to contact her if they have any suggestions.
Cllr O’Toole said she has raised the issue of the embankment between Moyglass and Castle Riada being considered for inclusion in a permeability scheme.
She said: “I will be bringing this matter up for discussion at the next Lucan Area Committee meeting in September.”
