
Palmerstown make strong finish
PALMERSTOWN Shoto-kan Karate Club has enjoyed a strong finish to the year.
Following up on the superb Jiyu Ippon kumite gold and Sanbon Ippon kumite bronze medals won by Aoife Sammon at the 27th SKDUN World Karate Championships in Prague, the club saw a number of their competitors make the podium at both the HDKI GB National Champion-ships in Dudley and Kanazawa Nationals in Tallaght Leisure Centre.

In the latter, Sammon won out in her kata division while Isabella Stritch also struck gold in kata and bronze in kumite and Lily Murphy picked up bronze in kata and silver in kumite.
Also finishing among the medals here were Anita Paskaleva and David Amler while the club also enjoyed team success.
Indeed Daisy Stritch, Paskaleva and Rocha Harman combined to scoop silver in Under 12 Junior Team Kata division while Isabella Stritch, Aoife Sammon and Lily followed suit in their class.
In the HDKI National Championships, Palmers-town emerged with 12 gold, nine silver and 13 bronze medals, including gold in Senior Team Kata and silver in the junior equivalent.
