Parkwest firm invests over €120,000 in new fleet of roadside assistance vans

PARKWEST-based Allianz Global Assistance, one of the largest providers of roadside assistance for motorists are investing over €120,000 in a new fleet of roadside assistance vans, which are expected to travel up to 600,000 kilometres on Irish roads, responding to 13,500 callouts over the next three years.

According to figures from Allianz Global Assistance for the first six months of 2016, the busiest time for breakdown callouts in Ireland is Monday mornings at 9am, with flat batteries being the number one problem for drivers on the school run and office commute.

After flat batteries, flat tyres and clutch problems are the second and third most common causes of breakdown, followed by electrical faults and alternator problems.

Enda Byrne, Network Manager for Allianz Global Assistance Ireland said: “A roadside technician would typically respond to an average of 1,500 calls for roadside assistance every year.

“Figures from Alliance Global Assistance tech-nicians for the first six months of the year show that a flat battery is still the most common problem for motorists, accounting for 27 per cent of all call-outs.

“By investing in a team of highly trained technicians, diagnostic technologies, and a new fleet, we are in a position to assist more customers than ever before, getting them back on the road as quickly as we can.”

The new fleet of Volkswagen Transporter vans will serve Allianz Global Assistance motorists in the Dublin and surrounding areas.

Byrne added: “Through this key investment in our fleet, we are demonstrating our commitment to providing industry-leading solutions for Irish motorists.”

Allianz Global Assistance employs thirty-nine people at its Park West Head Office in Dublin and is one of the largest assistance companies in the country, providing roadside assistance and customer services to insurance companies and car manufacturers.
