THE DSPCA has reminded people to keep their dogs under control in local parks, after a swan was seriously injured this morning in what is believed to have been a dog attack.

The Rathfarnham-based animal shelter has shared a video online of the injured swan, which was picked up at around 10am this morning at the Limekiln-end of Tymon Park.

According to the DSPCA, the swan, which suffered several puncture wounds, is undergoing surgery.

In a Facebook post earlier, the DSPCA said: “This is the sickening state a beautiful swan was left in this morning after what is believed to be a dog attack.

“This is not acceptable [and] we are seeing this way too often.

“Please keep your dog under control at all times.”

The DSPCA has encouraged anyone who may have witnessed the attack to contact the shelter on 4994702.
