Permission granted for 237 dwelling units in Adamstown

PERMISSION has been granted for the construction of 237 dwelling units in Adamstown, to be a mixture of duplexes which will be housed across four blocks, and semi-detached and terraced houses.

Applicant Cairn Homes Properties Ltd received planning permission early last year for the development of 267 dwelling units at a site at Tobermaclugg in Adamstown, and it is proposed that the subject site for their current application will be bounded by a number of roads which were constructed as part of their previous grant of permission.

It is proposed that the new development, to be located in an area known as Airlie Stud, will consist of 151 two-storey houses, 108 of which will be three-bedroom properties and 43 of which will be four-bedroom houses.

There are plans for Block A to house ten duplex units, comprising four two-bed units and six three-bed units, while Block B will contain 24 duplex units comprising 11 two-bedroom duplex units and 13 three-bedroom units.

Block C will also contain the same number of and capacity as the units in Block B, while Block D will consist of 13 two-bedroom duplex units and 15 three-bedroom duplex units.

Permission was also sought for 488 parking spaces, bin-storage areas and communal and private open spaces to include terraces and gardens.

South Dublin County Council granted permission for the development, which is within the Adamstown SDZ Planning Scheme, on May 22, with a number of conditions.

These conditions include the stipulation that all units in blocks A to D shall meet or exceed the relevant minimum private amenity space area standards, that the car parking spaces shall not be labelled or numbered, and that the attic space in each house shall be used for storage.
