Petition seeks restoration of Lucan route 25
MANY buses pass by people waiting for them at bus stops in Lucan, according to feedback collected by Lucan Planning Council (LPP).
LPP said they have had a “very positive response” to their door-to-door petition, which seeks the restoration of route 25 and extension of the Blanchardstown bus into the hospital grounds.
“Many are seeking action to be taken to solve Lucan’s growing traffic problems before traffic congestion gets out of hand, as well as other local issues recently highlighted. We are proposing a number of solutions to South Dublin County Council and local representatives,” said Caitríona McClean, Secretary LPP.
LPP say the 25 route is “dearly missed by residents surveyed so far” and the survey will continue over the following weeks. Residents who may have not been at home when LPP called to their home, will be provided with an opportunity to fill in the survey at Lucan Festival, on Sunday, September 10, in Village Green.
“A very real concern expressed to us by residents is that many buses pass full. The Bus Connects corridor only begins at Woodies, this misses out most of Lucan, It should at least be extended to the roundabout at Weston above the Spa Hotel, then all Lucan is included,” said McClean.
“Users with a disability and the elderly are hardest affected by C-Spine changes. These difficulties can easily be solved if the NTA listens to local knowledge. One good thing about the C-spine is the new route 52 from Leixlip via N4 to the city. However, we need new bus stops at the footbridge at the cemetery to facilitate Beechpark and Esker Lawn residents and others left out.”
