Plans for primary health care centre in Clondalkin

PLANS for the development of a new primary healthcare centre in Thornfield Square in Clondalkin are in the pipeline, after an application seeking the change of use of a building was submitted to South Dublin County Council in early May.
It is proposed that Steeple House, which is currently vacant and has an access point from the Ninth Lock Road, will be changed from office use to provide for a primary healthcare centre.

Applicant UHPC Limited, with an address in Cherry Orchard, is proposing that the development will consist of 19 consultation rooms, 22 offices, three clinic rooms, two administration/reception areas and four large group rooms, and there are provisions for ancillary site uses
There are plans for a number of existing facilities on site to remain in place, including a basement car park which contains parking for 66 cars, two new enable car parking spaces and two new electric car charging stations to provide for the users and staff of the proposed development.
There are provisions for 20 new bicycle parking spaces, a new plant space and a new storage area.
It is proposed that the existing entrance from the Ninth Lock Road, which provides pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular access, will remain as built, including the existing landscaping, and will be utilised by people using the proposed primary healthcare centre.
There are provisions for the existing plant roof to be replaced and upgraded, and the clarification that the planned change of use of the development will not result in an increase of the property’s floor area was also included in the application.
A decision on the application is due from South Dublin County Council by July 12.
