Plaza Hotel nominated for top awards in Irish Hospitality 2024
THE PLAZA Hotel in Tallaght has been nominated for a couple of accolades in the Irish Hospitality Awards 2024.
Declan Bowe, General Manager at the Plaza Hotel is in contention for the ‘Best Hotel General Manager’ category.
The Plaza Hotel is “delighted” that Mr Bowe – who has led the team at The Plaza Hotel and Tallaght Cross Hotel in Dublin for the past five years – is nominated for the prestigious award.
Declan has seen The Plaza Hotel undergo a transformation over the past few years, where it benefitted from an extensive and in-depth refurbishment that included all public spaces, from hotel lobby and bar, to bedrooms and meeting spaces.
Over the past two years, since renovations were completed, the hotel has gone from strength to strength, welcoming guests from all around Ireland and worldwide.
Declan began his hospitality career in the early ‘90s, working in many fine establishments in Dublin including The Clarence and The Fitzwilliam Hotel.
Over the subsequent years, Declan steadily worked his way up the ranks through various departments in hotels, from working as a hotel porter, receptionist, waiter, night porter, supervisor, duty manager, operations and deputy general manager, to eventually taking the reins as a GM.
Working as part of the national hotel group, TMR Hotel Collection, Declan has enjoyed the support of colleagues nationwide including Harvey’s Point in Donegal, Connemara Coast Hotel in Galway, Farnham Estate in Cavan, and many more.
The Plaza says one of Declan’s key traits is that he makes time to listen and develop his team, and to provide guidance in not only the technical skills but the approach a team member takes in their role.
Also nominated in the ‘Best Dining Experience’ category for the Irish Hospitality Awards is the Alder Café Bar.
Located on the ground floor of The Plaza Hotel, the Alder Café Bar is suitable for all types of occasions, and boasts not only a sumptuous food menu, but also a mouth-watering, specially curated cocktail menu.
