Plowman hopes that the pain of defeat will drive Dublin girls on
DUBLIN Junior Camogie team manager Shane Plowman is hoping the pain his side experienced in last season’s All-Ireland Final defeat will help see them go that one step further this time around.
Having lost out to Westmeath in the 2017 showpiece, the Blues have picked themselves up and marched all the way to another All-Ireland decider in which they will meet Kerry this coming Sunday in Croke Park.

Speaking to The Echo Plowman said “We’ve added to the panel and some of the girls who were there last season will feel that they left that title behind them”.
“We came up against a good team. There was only four points in it in the end and we missed a few scores and had about three penalty calls.
“We won Division Three last season and we were unbeaten in Division Two right up until the semi final so hopefully we can keep that winning form going and take the big one.
“Kerry are a very good team. About two thirds of their players play with the same club so they have been together from juvenile all the way up.
“Patrice Diggin is a very good player and they have a couple of All-Stars, so they’re a very good up and coming team who, like us, won Division Three this year.
“But if we play well it will take a good team to beat us” added the Thomas Davis man.
Dublin secured their spot in the Final following an emphatic 3-13 to 1-3 victory over Offaly in a match that heavily involved a strong contingent of St Jude’s players.
Indeed Aoife Walsh, Caragh Dawson, Emma Barron, Eimear O’Riordan and Sinead Nolan all played their part for Plowman’s squad which also included Ballinteer’s Louise O’Shea, Ciara Buchannan of St Finian’s and Lucan Sarsfields pair Emer Keenan and Emma O’Flynn.
They are all part of an ever-improving panel which, in itself, is a reflection of the increasing standard of the game in general according to Plowman.
“It [the game] has become even more competitive” he said. “I’ve been involved for the past three years and every season it’s getting stronger.
“We’ve had players stepping up from Minor and we also held trials back in November in which a few players really shone, so I feel we’ve strengthened” he added.
