IF YOU are a young person living in Tallaght West, the Childhood Development Initiative (CDI) is inviting you to post pictures to social media to highlight the good things about living in your community and also to share your ideas about how to make it a better place.

CDI is encouraging young people to upload their images to Instagram, Twitter or Facebook along with the hashtag #MyTallaghtWest for good things and #ChangeTallaghtWest for what you would like to change.

A winning image will be selected and the talented photographer will receive a voucher for the Square.

Those posting pictures to social media are also asked to include their name, age and a short caption saying what the image means to them.

The campaign is part of a study, How Is Our Neighbourhood? to understand and explore the experiences and views of people living and working in the community.

CDI Research and Development Officer, Dr Bernadette Rock said: “We encourage as many young people as possible to give their opinion. This is an exciting opportunity to have your say about what is positive and also the changes you would like to see.

“For example, pictures can be of a group of friends having fun, of a sibling or parent, or pictures of public spaces you enjoy, such as a library or green area”.

As part of the research, CDI is also carrying out surveys and organising focus groups with young people aged 15-17 and would like to hear from anyone who would like to take part.

“If you, or a young person that you know is interested in getting involved, then please get in touch with us. It will be a great opportunity for this age group to share their experiences and views of growing up in Tallaght West,” Dr. Rock said.
