ONE LUCKY person went home with €500 in their pocket at the end of this week’s “Who wants to be a Thousandaire” in aid of Lucan Harriers at the Lucan Spa Hotel.

But the real winners were Lucan Harriers who raised a whopping €21,000 for their track fundraising campaign.

Eight players took part in the quiz which is based on the tv game show. Questions ranged from the ridiculously easy to seriously difficult.

There were local knowledge questions, including a few on Lucan Harrier & Athletics Club which were thankfully all answered correctly.

Other questions included: What metal is the main component of a Gold Medal (not as straightforward as it sounds)? What colour is the flower of a laburnum and what was the surname of the artist known as Prince?

There was a total of €1,600 in prize money given out on the night, with the highest payment being €500.

Huge thanks from the club goes to all who attended, including our public representatives Deputy Mayor Guss O’Connell, Minister Frances Fitzgerald TD, Councillors Liona O’Toole, Paul Gogarty, Ed O’Brien and Danny O’Brien and Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh.

The club would like to thank their eight main sponsors Shomera, Base Wood Fired Pizza, The Lord Lucan Pub, Stagg Cycles, Adrian Dunne Pharmacy, DK Windows & Doors, Lucan District Credit Union and Bathroom & Tile Experience, to those who purchased advertising slots and of course the Organising Committee who put months of hard work into this event.

A big thank you to Barry Aherne, Rob Brannigan, Colm Carey, Carol Kearney, Michael Lee, Colm O’Gara and Will Byrne.
