Prisoner with 119 previous convictions cut fellow inmate in the face with blade
A PRISONER in Cloverhill Prison with 119 previous convictions, who cut a fellow inmate with a blade, has been jailed for four months by Blanchardstown District Court.
David Dunne, aged 35, with an address at Boroimhe Birches, Swords, had pleaded guilty to assaulting Michael Wall causing him harm at Cloverhill Prison, Clondalkin, on September 13, 2018.

Dunne was before Judge David McHugh for sentencing.
The court had heard that on the above date, Dunne went to a toilet cubicle block in Cloverhill where Wall was.
He had asked Wall if he could retrieve an item from the cubicle. Dunne then produced a blade and cut Wall along the left side of his face and his ear. Wall was taken to Tallaght Hospital where he received three stitches.
Garda Rachel Caprani handed Judge McHugh the victim-impact statement which he read.
Garda Caprani said Dunne had 119 previous convictions, 13 of which were for robbery, 12 of which were for possession of knives and related offences and four of which were for assault.
She said Dunne is due for release in September 2023.
Dunne’s counsel, Jennifer Jackson Bl, said her client was a father of two children. She said Dunne had been using drugs since the age of 15.
She said he had turned to crime “to feed his addiction” and is now on a methadone maintenance programme. Ms Jackson said Dunne is now on a drug-free landing in prison.
Ms Jackson said her client had been finding custody “very difficult” and he had “lashed out” at his fellow inmate.
Judge McHugh sentenced Dunne to four months jail and ordered that it run consecutive from the sentence that Dunne is currently serving.
