‘Proud 2 Be’: Presented by Proud Dance Academy
The talented members of Proud Dance Academy are delighted to present their show, ‘Proud 2 Be’ at the Kilnamanagh Community Centre in two weeks, writes Ryan Butler.
Paul Ryder, who founded the group, claims that “it has been a whopping five years since my company, Proud Dance Academy, has been onstage.”
When asked how much time is being dedicated to ‘Proud 2 Be’, Paul responds, “At the moment we are rehearsing twice a week,” and “there is so much going on behind the scenes as well as in classes!”
This production has been in the works for two years, and another show is already being planned for October 2024.
Proud Dance Academy is starting a new term after the performance, as students will be sent out to audition for pantomimes around Christmas, including Jack and the Beanstalk in the National Stadium, which Paul choreographs every year.
Paul would like to thank choreographers Laura Norton and Zara Lily Gill, class assistant Emma, an admin team including Fiona Roche, John, Marion, and Sandra, and the team at Kilnamanagh Community Centre for helping with this production.
‘Proud 2 Be’ takes place at the Kilnamanagh Family Recreation Centre on September 17 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Leah Green is a special guest at both shows, and Dame Stuffy is a special guest at the 7 p.m. show only.
