A TEACHER in Scoil Chrónáin was given a big surprise by her pupils when they presented her with a Certificate of Appreciation and a beautiful, handmade collage to say ‘thanks’.

In a surprise gesture of appreciation, the pupils of Ranga 1A in Scoil Chrónáin, Rathcoole, and their parents together organised a special ‘thank you’ for muinteoir Ailín Mhic Liam.

In recent weeks, Tallaght Community Council (TCC) has made a Certificate of Appreciation available for members of the community to present to someone whom they believe deserves a ‘thank you’.

TCC created the certificate after the cancellation of this year’s Tallaght Person of the Year, and to support the continuation of appreciating the area’s unsung heroes.

Certificates have in recent weeks been presented to people right across the community, including muinteoir Ailín.

In a thank you note to muinteoir Ailín, the parents wrote: “We cannot thank you enough for your support in what can only be described as the most challenging year we, as a community, have faced.

“Thank you for consistently encouraging our children to be the best they can be.

“Thank you also for your support and the ever so gentle nudge you give us parents to ensure the children are kept on track.”

Parents also thanked muinteoir Ailín for her “patience, understanding and caring” during a year that has presented challenges for everyone.

“You have given the children the best possible start that any of us could have hoped for and we will be forever grateful”, they wrote.

The parents were unable to attend the classroom-based presentation but acting Principal Róisín Ní Shéaghdha and the pupils were on hand to pull off a spectacular surprise.

The pupils also made a beautiful, thank you collage, which was presented alongside the Certificate of Appreciation and a bunch of flowers.

Is there a person or group who you think deserves a ‘thank you’?

TCC has encouraged members of the community to virtually present their Certificate of Appreciation by email or by tagging their unsung hero or group on social media using the hastag #OurHeroesYourChoice.

The certificate is available to download from The Echo website here; http://echo.ie/CertificateOfAppreciation.pdf.

It can also be printed off for those who would like to post their certificate or present it safely, and within Government guidelines.
