PLANS to expand the Red Cow Moran Hotel continue to grow as a planning application for the addition of two additional storeys to an already approved five storey extension for the hotel have been submitted with South Dublin County Council.

Planning permission for the five storey hotel extension, which will involve the demolition of the Red Cow Pavilion, was granted back in July with final approval for the development granted in December following a first party appeal.

The new planning application is for the provision of two additional storeys above the previously permitted five storeys, with the addition of 52 hotel bedrooms to the 104 bedrooms that have already been approved.

It also sees the omission of a planned courtyard plant room and the revision to the existing car park to provide 412 car parking spaces.

The application was submitted by Guestford Ltd, which trades as Red Cow Moran Hotel and includes owner Thomas Moran among its directors.

Provision for a new external courtyard plant room and a plant storage area in the basement are also included within the application.

As part of the original and approved application, the extension will also include meetings rooms, a lounge area and a link to the existing hotel building.

Revisions to internal roads and set down areas within the hotel complex are also included along with a new hotel link between the current hotel building and the new extension.

A change of use to the hotel administration area to a gym is also included within the approved planning application.

The new modifications to the plans, if approved, will see the development increase by 2,376 sqm bringing the total floor area to 7,716 sqm.

Submissions on the application will be accepted until February 2, with a decision on the application due from South Dublin County Council by February 23.
