Rentention permission is granted for seasonal events at Luggwoods

RETENTION permission has been granted for the continued use of land and farm sheds at Kelly Farm and Luggwoods Forest in Saggart for seasonal events.

The business submitted a planning application to South Dublin County Council last August for seasonal events to be held in their premises at Christmas, Easter and Halloween.

It is stated in the application that the dates for the events will recur annually between March 14 to April 25, October 24 to 31, and November 24 to December 23.

Permission was secured for three temporary signs located at the entrance, two containers with covered area, four single-storey portaloo toilets, and four single-storey portacabins.

Festoon lighting set 10 to 15 metres apart and provision of 99 car parking spaces in total, including two accessible spaces, 94 visitor spaces and three staff spaces, are included.

It’s noted in the application that all of the works are temporary and removable, and limited site enabling works were also proposed.

The existing entrance accessing Luggwoods from Slade Road will provide vehicular access for the public.

On October 18 last, South Dublin County Council requested additional information from Kelly Farm and Luggwoods about their proposal.

The applicant was requested to submit additional information in relation to the nature and detail of the proposed activities onsite.

Specifically, demonstrating that the proposed use would accord with the land use HA-DM (to protect and enhance the Dublin Mountains) and RU (rural) zoning objectives of the site.

The applicant was also advised to submit further details in relation to the nature of the event, including what activities it involves and other relevant details.

They were also asked to provide details showing how pedestrians and mobility impaired people will access the site.

Other requested information included a lighting rationale which gave details of how the festoon lighting proposed would adequately provide for the road and laneway lighting requirements.

Luggwoods submitted the requested documents last March and were granted retention permission by the council on April 23.
