Residents evacuated following fire at apartment complex in Tallaght

Emergency Services had to attend a ground floor apartment fire in Tallaght last night with the entire block being evacuated as a result.

The fire broke out at a ground floor apartment of the Gleann na hEorna apartment complex at around 10.30pm on Thursday night, with three Dublin Fire Brigade units from Tallaght and Dolphins Barn tending to the scene along with Gardai and members of ESB.

Although there no injuries, residents were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

In a statement to The Echo, a spokesperson from An Garda Síochána said: “Gardaí at Tallaght are investigating a fire which occurred in the apartment complex at Gleann na hEorna, Tallaght at approximately 10.30pm, Thursday, July 4, 2019.

“The apartment was unoccupied at the time.

“No other persons were injured.

“Residence were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

“A Garda technical examination will determine the course of the investigation.”

Residents were allowed to return to their homes afterwards with the ESB also attending the scene.

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade said: “Units from Tallaght and Dolphins Barn attended a ground floor apartment fire in Gleann na hEorna last night.

“There were no injuries reported.”
