Residents slam security issues in ‘hell’ of apartment complex
By Aideen O'Flaherty
ISSUES with an apartment complex that a tenant last month described as being “absolute hell” are ongoing, according to another resident of Mount Seskin Court who has contacted The Echo to raise their concerns.
The resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, has said that a gang of young men are continuing to destroy the communal areas, and have been defecating and urinating in the hallways of the private Killinarden apartment complex.
The young men, who congregate in the apartment complex, also drink and smoke in the hallways and leave rubbish in the communal areas.
There are 36 residents who live in the apartment block, who have to deal with the ongoing anti-social behaviour on a daily basis.
“The CCTV has been destroyed, the wires [in the hallways] are loose, there are broken tiles on the floor, and the gates are broken, so now there’s no security,” the concerned resident told The Echo.
“It’s a very bad situation, it’s not safe to sleep here – we’re always worried about the cars.”
The resident, who lives in the apartment with his wife and young child, added that there are no working lights in the underground car park, which makes it “very dangerous” when he goes to check his car in the morning.
The family said that while they have been looking to move to another apartment, they are not in a financial position to do so, particularly as there has been a substantial increase in rent costs across Dublin.
A spokesperson from Chartered Assets Property Ltd, who manage the apartment units in the development, told The Echo: “We don’t manage any of the common areas in any form, we manage the individual apartments in the development.”
The spokesperson added that the responsibility for the communal areas in the apartment complex rests with Killinarden Property Management Company.
The Echo attempted to contact Killinarden Property Management Company, but received no reply.
