Rhasidat secures fourth place in Diamond League

Tallaght’s Rhasidat Adeleke secured fourth place in the 400 metres race at the Diamond League in Poland on Sunday.

It was her first 400m race since the Olympic Games in Paris where she also claimed fourth spot in the final.

A member of Tallaght Athletic Club, Rhasidat registered a time of 50.00 flat, again behind Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino who was first past the line in a time of 48.66.

The 21-year-old sprinter started the race brightly and took the lead before Paulino bounced back to take first spot with Salwa Eid Naser in second with Natalia Kaczmarek completing the places in third.

Rhasidat has led through the first 200 metres in lane seven but could not keep up the momentum in the final stages.

Only two weeks after the Olympic Games, this was a very competitive race with seven of the eight finalists in Paris competing in Poland.
