Rovers aim to continue push for the league title
ANOTHER big crowd is expected in Tallaght Stadium on Friday evening as defending Airtricity League champions Shamrock Rovers go head-to-head with Dublin rivals Shelbourne.
Over 7,500 spectators are expected for the match with South Stand already sold out and less than 250 tickets remaining for the Main Stand.
While the Hoops will be disappointed with the draw at Belfield against UCD last week, who were subsequently relegated, Stephen Bradley’s charges will be hoping to collect maximum points.
Rovers made five changes for that game against the students to the one that faced Derry City a week earlier with Sean Hoare, Ronan Finn, Sean Kavanagh, Markus Poom and Richie Towell starting.
However, despite Rovers enjoying good spells of possession in both halves, they could not convert this into goals as the students held firm.
Rovers pushed forward in the second half with substitute Aaron Greene from Kilnamanagh, only on the pitch a few minutes, firing into the side netting.
Yet despite going in search of that winning goal, Rovers were kept out and they will be determined to put it right against Shelbourne.
Damien Duff’s side leapfrogged Bohemians following their 1-1 draw at Dalymount Park, their highest position this season and they are still in the hunt for a Champions League spot so they will be eager to get some kind of a result in Tallaght.
