Sadhbh’s on song: Rising musician play at the Áras

SADHBH Keane, who is 16-years-old, started busking at the age of 11 on Grafton Street, having begun to write her own songs at 10 years of age.

In 2023, at 15, she achieved the major milestone of releasing her six-track debut EP to critical acclaim.

Tony Clayton Lee stated, “The Dublin teenager, whose songs effortlessly highlight maturity beyond her age, displayed a nifty talent at delivering smart acoustic pop songs with decent lyrics on her 2023 debut EP, Passion + Paper.

(Anyone who can rhyme “pandemic” with “academic” is okay in my book.)” Since June 2023’s release of Passion + Paper, the Irish music scene has begun to take notice.

In October 2023, Sadhbh from Clondalkin released a new single, ‘I Give Up On Love’.

Fionnuala Moran, a 2FM DJ, pointed out after Sadhbh sang the song live on air, “I saw Dermot Kennedy before he became big; the power and clarity in his voice I saw in hers as well, just spectacular, magic.”

In December 2023, Sadhbh released a Christmas song about the homeless crisis, ‘Life at Christmas’ by Glen Hansard, when Sadhbh sung the song at Glen’s request at the famous Dublin Christmas Eve Busk.

Glen praised her talent: “Sadhbh’s song on Christmas Eve was my favourite. She’s got a real gift.”

The song was playlisted on Radio 1 for 4 weeks running and received radio support across Ireland and some plays in the US & Canada. In December 2023, Sadhbh was listed in the Irish Times as one of 20 artists to watch in 2024.

In March 2024, Sadhbh released another single, ‘She Really Loves You,’ with widespread support and radio play.

Sadhbh is very fortunate to have had continuous opportunities to sing her own songs and perform live on countless occasions since the age of 11 in Áras Chronáin, an Irish cultural centre in the heart of her native Clondalkin Village.

In addition to all of these opportunities, Sadhbh has sold out two headline shows with full band in October 2022 and June 2023 and co-headlined in the Soundhouse Dublin in October of 2023.

Sadhbh has previously supported Niall McNamee in the Workman’s cellar, Emer Crehan in St Mary’s Church Celbridge, Emma Langford at Snug Sessions, and Saibh Skelly in the Academy.

She played on stage at the Kaleidoscope festival in 2023 and will play Kaleidoscope again later this summer.

Sadhbh toured the Island of Lanzarote in March 2023, playing 7 gigs in Irish venues over 5 days, a mix of covers and her own original music.

Sadhbh recently played the renowned Ruby Sessions in Dublin city centre and played the Galway Arts Festival recently.

In July Sadhbh supported the Pillow Queens at the SubSounds festival in Dublin. Sadhbh sold out her last headline show in Áras Chronáin in June.

She will be performing this weekend at Áras Chronáin on October 5 and then at the Dun Laoghaire Festival on October 6; make sure to get your tickets now and don’t miss out!
